City of Eureka Recycling Program

Recology Humboldt County provides residents of the City of Eureka with curbside recycling. Please separate your recycling into the dual-stream cart provided by Recology Humboldt County.

One side of the bin (with the brown lid) should contain recyclable paper items. The other side of the bin (with the blue lid) should contain recyclable metal, plastic and glass items. For detailed information about what to put into your cart, please refer to the following guidelines.

Acceptable Recycling Materials
Only place recyclable materials into your containers!
Please empty and rinse all food and beverage containers.
Glass All colors of beverage and food containers
  • Beverage bottles (beer, juice, soda)
  • Mayonnaise jars
  • Spaghetti sauce jars
Metal
  • Rinsed food and beverage cans
    (aluminum, steel, and tin)
  • Aluminum foil & containers
Plastic Bottles & containers marked #1 - #7
  • Detergent and shampoo containers
  • Milk and orange juice jugs
  • Water bottles
Paper Most clean and dry household paper:
  • Cardboard (flattened and broken down - Large cardboard boxes that will not fit into a crate may be broken down (no larger than 3' by 4') and left next to crates.)
  • Food boxes (cereal, crackers, remove liners)
  • Gift wrap (non-foil)
  • Junk mail & envelopes
  • Home & office paper
  • Magazines & catalogs
  • Manila folders
  • Newspaper
  • Paper bags
  • Paperback & phone books

Unacceptable Recycling Materials
Please do not place the following un-recyclable materials into your blue container!
Construction Debris
  • Concrete, rocks, dirt
Electronic / Universal Waste
  • Televisions, computers, cell phones, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury switches
Household Hazardous Waste
  • Paints, solvents, cooking oil, motor oil, cleaners, corrosives, fuel tanks - propane tanks
Un-Recyclable Glass, Metal, Paper and Plastic
